Overview

When you add another language to your Shopify store, you are enabling translated content for your storefront. Simply Forms works with Shopify’s localization by using form IDs. Each localized page template can reference a language-specific form ID, allowing Simply Forms to display the correct form for each language.

This guide explains how to set up Simply Forms for multiple languages using Spanish on the demo site, https://simply-forms.myshopify.com/ (pwd: simplyforms), as an example.

How Localization Works with Simply Forms

  • A Simply Form is added to a page using a Form ID.
  • For multilingual stores, you create separate forms per language (for example, English and Spanish).
  • In each localized page template, you paste the Form ID that corresponds to that language.
  • This ensures customers see the correct form based on their selected storefront language.
With this approach, Simply Forms can support your storefront in any language.

Note: While your storefront can be fully localized, the Simply Forms app interface in Shopify Admin is currently available in English only.

Step 1: Add a New Language in Shopify

  1. From Shopify Admin, go to Settings.
  2. Click Languages.
  3. Click Add a language.
  4. Select Spanish from the language list.
  5. Click Next.

Market & Domain Note

In this example, the same domain is used for both the United States and Canada markets. The domain’s default language is English, and Spanish is also assigned to this domain.

Step 2: Translate Store Content

Once Spanish is added:
  1. Click Translate.
  2. Shopify’s free app Translate & Adapt will be installed automatically (if it is not already installed).
  3. The app will automatically translate your store’s native content.
Important: Content provided by third-party apps, including Simply Forms, is not translated automatically.
Step 3: Create Spanish Versions of Your Forms

Because Simply Forms content is not auto-translated, you must manually create Spanish versions of your forms.
For example:
  • Original form: Warranty Claim
  • Spanish form: Warranty Claim (Spanish)
Repeat this process for any other forms that should appear in Spanish.

Step 4: Wait for Auto-Translation to Complete

When Translate & Adapt finishes translating your store content, Shopify will send you a notification email.
At this point:
  • Shopify knows your store has a Spanish version.
  • However, your localized pages do not yet know which Simply Form (Spanish) to use.

Step 5: Assign Spanish Form IDs to Localized Pages

  1. In Shopify Admin, go to Translate & Adapt app.
  2. Under Localized content: Spanish, click Templates.
  3. Select the relevant template, for example: Page: Warranty Claim
  4. Locate the Simply Forms Form ID field.
  5. Copy the Form ID of Warranty Claim (Spanish) on Simply Forms' UI..
  6. Paste this Form ID into the Spanish column.
Canada Market (Optional)

If you are also adapting Spanish for the Canada market, repeat the same steps under Adapting Spanish for Canada.

Step 6: Update Other Localized Pages

  • Create Spanish versions of all other Simply Forms as needed.
  • Update each localized page template with the corresponding Spanish Form ID.
This ensures all pages display the correct form for Spanish-speaking customers.

Step 7: Verify on the Storefront

  1. Go to your storefront.
  2. Use the language selector.
  3. Select Spanish.
You should now see Simply Forms displayed in Spanish.

Summary

By creating language-specific forms and assigning their Form IDs to localized templates, Simply Forms integrates seamlessly with Shopify’s multilingual storefronts. This method works for Spanish and can be applied to any additional language your store supports.
