The Sign-in Prompt element allows you to encourage or require visitors to sign in to their Shopify customer account before accessing specific forms, customer information, previous submissions, or other members-only content.
Simply Forms provides three ways to use Sign-in Prompt, depending on your use case.

Option 1: Create a Dedicated Sign-in Prompt Widget

This method allows you to create a standalone sign-in widget that can be displayed anywhere on your storefront as an App Block supported by Online Store 2.0 theme.
Typical Use Cases

  • VIP Club Application
  • Wholesale Account Application
  • Members-Only Forms
  • Customer Portal Pages
  • B2B Registration Forms
  • How It Works

    Create a form that contains:
    • A Sign-in Prompt element
    • Optional static elements like headings, labels, images, links, etc.
    • No input fields
Then configure the form so it functions only as a sign-in prompt.

App Block Settings in Theme Editor

    SettingValue
    Submit Button AlignmentInvisible
Visibility → Customer VisibilityOnly visible to logged-out visitors
Since the Submit button is hidden and there are no input fields, the form becomes a sign-in prompt widget only.

    Example

You have a page called VIP Club Application.
    Add:
    • A Sign-in Prompt widget
    • A VIP Club Application form
    FormVisibility → Customer Visibility
Sign-in Prompt WidgetOnly visible to logged-out visitors
VIP Club Application FormOnly visible to logged-in customers
    Visitor Experience

    Guest Visitor

    • Sign-in Prompt is displayed
    • VIP Club Application form is hidden
    Logged-in Customer
    • Sign-in Prompt disappears
    • VIP Club Application form becomes visible

Option 2: Add Sign-in Prompt to a Form

    Typical Use Cases

  • Contact Us forms
  • Support Request forms
  • Warranty Claim forms
  • Return Request forms
  • Order Inquiry forms
  • Benefits

    When customers sign in:
    • Contact information can be automatically filled
    • Previous orders can be displayed, and then customers can easily select a related order
    • Form completion becomes faster and more accurate

    How It Works

    1. Add a Sign-in Prompt element to your form.
    2. Publish the form normally.
When a guest views the form:
    • The sign-in prompt is displayed
    • The customer may continue as a guest
    • Or click the sign-in link
    After successful sign-in:
    • The customer is automatically redirected back to the current page
    • Customer profile information is loaded
    • The customer's previous order list becomes available

App Block Settings in Theme Editor

    SettingValue
Visibility → Customer VisibilityVisible to Everyone
This allows both guests and logged-in customers to access the form. Guests will see the Sign-in Prompt and may choose to sign in for a better experience.

    Example

A Contact Us form may allow customers to:
    • Select one of their previous orders
    • Auto-fill their contact details
    • Submit support requests more efficiently

Option 3: Automatically Show Sign-in Prompt for Previous Submissions

When the Previous Submissions section is enabled, Simply Forms can automatically display a sign-in prompt to guests. Sign-in Prompt element is not required to be added manually.

    Typical Use Cases

  • Customer support forms
  • Service request forms
  • Application forms
  • Any form where customers need to review their previous submissions
  • App Block Setting in Theme Editor

    SettingValue
Visibility → Customer visibilityVisible to Everyone
Visibility → Customer visibilityVisible to Everyone

    Example

    Visitor Experience

    Guest Visitor

    • Sign-in Prompt is displayed automatically
    • Previous submissions are not available

    Visibility Control

    Customer Visibility

Simply Forms provides multiple levels of access control.

In the Shopify Theme Editor, you can control whether a form is visible to:

    • Everyone
    • Logged-in customers only
    • Logged-out visitors only

    Customer Tag Visibility

For more advanced scenarios, a form can also be restricted to customers with specific Shopify customer tags.
    Examples:
    • VIP customers only
    • Wholesale customers only
    • Members only
    • Approved distributors only
You can configure a form so that:
    • Only customers with a specific tag can view it
    • Customers with a specific tag cannot view it
    • Different forms are displayed to different customer groups
This makes it easy to create customer-specific experiences such as VIP applications, wholesale portals, member-only forms, and B2B workflows.
